WWF Eco Internship Reuse to Produce

WWF Eco Internship : Reuse to Produce

On fourth day of Eco internship we were asked to produce something related to environment. We had to produce something valuable and which represents reuse, reduce and recycle strategies of WWF. We reused paper into clutch, pencil box and vase.

Purpose of reuse to produce

Firstly we have to think about that what we have to produce. We decided to do something which indicates all what we had learnt in this Eco internship of WWF. We choose the letter R which was also our final project topic. This R stands reduce reuse recycle. But what to choose material which can be reused to a more valuable and usable thing.

As marketing portion is very important to produce something valuable so it can generate high revenue on selling. It's basically for the donation purposes of WWF. These donations include the campaign for the survival of endangered species. Decision was taken to reuse the paper and magazines hard pages into a clutch , a pencil box and decoration vase. For this purpose in Whats App group , group leaders divided the duties to each group member and the material they have to bring for tomorrow's job.Next morning brought a superb day in the whole Eco internship because we had to prove our creativeness to our judges. All boys and girls were happy enough.

Division of Production

Before start of session we decided that 4 girl members will produce a clutch and boys took responsibility to decor a vase, decoration piece and pencil box--as they were out-numbered girls.

4th Session Of WWF Eco Internship

Quiz

Surprisingly session was started with a quiz. Yes it was all about what we learnt at internship. As logically it was last day of internship and just one day left on which we have to display our final projects. After quiz time we distributed randomly our quizzes ad marked them. One if my friend Hunza got a WWF key chain for getting highest marks.

Lecture

Now the time for the lecture. It was more closely related to our final project topic -Solid Waste Management. We were taught about the degradable and non biodegradable wastes and the methods to neutralize them. Effects of these pilling up wastes were also discussed. We learnt drastic effects of plastic bags on land and air Eco system.
  1. Plastic bags are harmful for  land and marine animals as they usually in take plastics and died due to this.
  2. They stayed long in our surroundings and never decomposed.
  3. Local people burn them to get rid off which results in air pollution with toxic gases.

Task of the Day : Reuse to Produce

We were instructed once again for this task.
  • Time limit
We have 1 hour and 30 minutes and WWF provided us necessary stationary as well.
  • How we worked
WWF Eco Internship Reuse to ProduceNow  time for creating new stories was started. One of us separated all pages and handed over to me and my friend. Both of us folded papers into strips and one member was collecting them to keep them in same shape. Same case was going by the boys side. time went on and speed of work increased accordingly. When half an hour was left boys had completed vase, pencil box and decoration piece.Following is the description of  each element. Clutch was completed at eleventh hour and we did not had any button or something to close it's fold. But tried it by slightly gluing. We organised all trash and our products on table for display.

Marketing and description

Now critical time started when we had to market our products. I gave description of all products to audience and judges and my fellow followed me for the marketing policy. It was a little big weak as we never studied business or economics. Here we lost our most of the marks. But overall our products stood out in whole contest due to their uniqueness.
  1. Our marketing policy included that we can sell these products and collect revenue to save Eco system.
  2. As these all are hand made products so no cost for labor. People can volunteer helped to produce large quantities of these products.
  3. Cost effective as only paper is reused which is easily accessible.

Others Work

There were three other groups.
  1. One had painted old shirt with WWF logo the Panda and a huge drum type basket for trash of newspapers.
  2. Other produced a lamp of plastic bottles and light it with small LED.It represents how we can deal with energy crises.
  3. Last group has created ..what?? I want you to guess. ☺☺
